Xarelto 20 mg

Contains the active ingredient: Rivaroxaban 20 mg which is an anticoagulant medicine that's used to treat and prevent dangerous blood clots in your blood vessels. It's sometimes called a blood thinner.

What is it used for?

Treating blood clots in the veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or in the lungs (pulmonary embolism). It's also used to prevent these types of blood clots if you've had hip or knee replacement surgery.

Preventing blood clots that could cause a heart attack in people who have suffered an acute coronary syndrome (a group of heart conditions that includes heart attack and unstable angina).

Preventing blood clots in people with hardening of the arteries in the heart or (coronary artery disease) or legs (peripheral arterial disease).

Preventing blood clots that could cause a stroke or blockage of other blood vessels in the body, in people with a type of irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation (AF). Rivaroxaban is prescribed for people with AF who also have one or more of these risk factors for having a stroke:

- age over 75 years

- history of stroke or mini stroke (TIA)

- heart failure

- high blood pressure
