Lexapro 20 mg

Contains the active ingredient:  Escitalopram 20 mg which  is a type of antidepressant called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by enhancing the activity of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain.

Neurotransmitters are natural body chemicals that act as chemical messengers between the nerve cells. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter known to be involved in regulating emotions, mood and behaviour, among other things. In depression and anxiety disorders there is a decreased amount of serotonin released from nerve cells in the brain.

What is it used for?

It is used to treat the following conditions in adults aged 18 years and over:

Depression.

Generalised anxiety disorder.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.

Social phobia or social anxiety disorder
